Steyning Music Society is rapidly acquiring a reputation for being one of the most welcoming and friendly concert promoters in the south-east. Concerts are presented at the Steyning Centre, a comfortable, modern community centre with first class amenities and free parking.

The Society presents a variety of concerts given by professional musicians and in the past has been honoured to host appearances by Jack Brymer, BBC 'Young Musician of the Year' Guy Johnston, pianist Nikolai Demidenko and the Allegri String Quartet as well as staging a cabaret evening with Sir Richard Rodney Bennett. In addition to presenting concerts we organise educational workshops involving young people and adults and in the past collaborations with the Youth Wing of Steyning Grammar School, Steyning Jazz Club and Chanctonbury Chorus have been particularly successful.

Steyning Music Society has been involved in musical commissions including a Millennium work, Etched bright with sunlight for solo piano, by internationally renowned composer, Michael Finnissy. This work was performed as an audio/visual presentation in conjunction with photographer Ken Scott and members of Steyning Camera Club.

Chamber music is the staple of our programming although occasionally we present something a bit different like the wacky Demon Barbers who make a welcome return visit this year. Also this year, we are delighted to be collaborating with Adur Arts Forum to bring to Steyning outstanding international performers, violinist Tasmin Little and pianist Piers Lane.

The Society is grateful for support from its Members, Arts Council England, The National Lottery, Horsham District Council, Steyning Parish Council and private sponsors. A major part of the Society’s income is raised by the town’s musicians when they get together to present a concert performance of a popular musical in the Annual Fund-Raising Concert. Previous shows have included Die Fledermaus, Showboat, Carousel, Bless the Bride, The Arcadians and works by Gilbert & Sullivan.

This years Fund-Raising Concert will be on Saturday, 13 October 2007

Why not visit the beautiful Saxon town of Steyning, at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex, and spend an evening enjoying good music in this lovely setting?

Steyning is a town of timber framed buildings, the fine Norman church of St. Andrew's, pubs, restaurants and shops, set within a Conservation Area.

There are numerous organisations in the town serving the many interests of residents and visitors. Amongst these is Steyning Music Society, which promotes professional instrumental and vocal performances from March to November each year.

Our 'Programme' page will give you a flavour of what we have to offer in 2007.

Concerts are held in the Steyning Centre where pianists and audiences alike can enjoy the beauty of a Steinway grand piano, and the grand piano can be hired!

Ticket prices, for all concerts and where to buy them can be found here.
